BELLEVUE
About 18 miles south of the resort area of Ketchum and Sun Valley, is the western looking town of Bellevue with a population of just over 2,300. The Big Wood River meanders through the city which is located on a mile-wide plateau noted for its rich soil. Nearby lands are equally rich with resources, making for good farming and grazing. Bellevue grew as a mining town. It was settled and chartered in 1882. The Howard Preserve is located here, featuring 12 acres of walking and snow-shoeing trails and is a popular place for fly-fishing and bird watching. And, if you’re lucky you might even find one of the secret swimming holes during those hot days of summer!
It’s quiet and limited on shopping, restaurants and culture, but it is enticing just by the nature of the people who are very low key and kind. The Silver Saloon is better than it sounds! There’s plenty of land for growing, building and living a rancher’s life, or just a lower cost of living. You’ll get twice as much for your money here, than in the northern resort of Ketchum and Sun Valley. You’re but a short ride to enjoy all of the ski town amenities. And, the airport is very close.
The way things are moving in the Wood River Valley, it won’t be too many years until it’s a real happen’ town. It does have the best gas station with feed for cattle and horses, sometimes real baby chicks, great cowboy clothes and all kinds of fun and different accessories and needs for those in this kind of country land. All good and worth a consideration, if not for living, for investing in the soil! There’s a lot of expansive land to build on, too, with surrounding mountains, clean blue skies and all the important things in life. Head ‘em up Rawhide!
